LOYOLA, Santa Clara County — Wildfire preparedness work along major escape corridors is a 2026 priority for the fire district serving Loyola and nearby Los Altos Hills.
The district’s 2026 project schedule lists an I-280 evacuation route project in October, plus vegetation treatments at Magdalena–I-280, Arastradero, Altamont, Elena–Fremont and other routes during different months. The district says crews work with the Santa Clara County FireSafe Council to reduce hazardous roadside fuels and improve sight lines, aiming to make evacuation and firefighter access safer.
The projects are spread across the entire fire district; they do not mean construction or vegetation removal occurred on every Loyola street. The project page notes that some work beyond public road rights-of-way requires permission from property owners through right-of-entry agreements.
What local residents should know
Residents near a treatment route should look for direct project notices and confirm any required property consent before crews enter. The official district project page provides updated schedules and contact information.
